Apocalypse Now (1979, Francis Ford Coppola)

Was able to catch this one in theatres! What an experience. One of the greatest war films, and a truly genius film on its own. Coppola is able to leverage a cacophony spectacle to ask big questions pertaining to war, nation, ritual, and our relationship to them. In spite of it's portrayal of a specific conflict, it is a truly timeless film. This was the final cut, though, and the setpiece with the French never fails to derail a bit. Despite this I will always vouch for this film. Truly, truly great.
